More About Dr. Taube

From the age of ten, I knew I would find a way to help people through my life’s work. Medicine was the path that took me there, and after more than twenty years as a doctor, helping people is still the best part of my job.

I like to say I didn't choose a career in medicine, it chose me. It's my calling, and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. I'm blessed to be a skilled surgeon and one of the best in my field. I enjoy doing everything I can to help heal people and improve their quality of life.

In my second year of medical school, an ophthalmology resident connected me with a well-known specialist in the field. I was fortunate to be able to study under one of the greatest doctors in this area, and that experience made me fall in love with this specialty. As I learned then, the eye is connected to everything in the human body; I was enamoured with the integrated, whole-person approach to medicine. I knew ophthalmology was the path I wanted to take to helping others.

I've studied and mastered many aspects of medicine, including immunology, hematology, rheumatology, genetics, and pharmacology, which gives me a very unique approach to every case I encounter. This background means I'm informed and considering every aspect of a patient's problem, and I'm able to provide my patients with a comprehensive approach to their care. I understand structural problems, diseases, and injuries of the eye in a way most doctors can't, because my varied background helps me recognize and treat not just the problem itself, but also what may lie behind the problem.

In addition to ophthalmology, I am a skilled reconstructive surgeon, which allows me to treat the most common to the most complex problems. I have a track record of performing successful, complicated eye and face surgeries with great results, and I am well-respected by patients who have come to me for cosmetic surgery.

In my practice, I see patients for everything from eye tumors, vision loss, and eyelid reconstruction to cheek lifts and fat grafts. I consider myself an expert on diabetes and am well trained on various cancers. My patients trust my expertise and know I'm their advocate.

I've always been a dedicated humanitarian, and as such I've started two non-profit organizations, including Healing for the Nations International. Through this organization, we establish health care centers and provide surgery and treatment for underserved populations in Africa and South America. These medical missionary journeys give me great joy, and through them I feel I'm truly making an impact on humanity.
